Creative Curriculum

INTRODUCTION

The curriculum followed at Pupil Tree Schools is divided into two equally vital segments. One is Academic Curriculum and the other is Creative Curriculum. Creative Curriculum comprises the practical part of education and is compulsory for all children. We believe that education which is solely based on academics is not only incomplete but imbalanced and there is a strong need to restore the equilibrium. For a child to flower you need both nature and nurture. We nurture our children through a vibrant and exciting student life and at Pupil Tree Schools there is as much learning outside the classroom as there is inside it.

REAL WORLD LEARNING

Real world learning through field trips and excursions is both delightful and engaging. Regular field trips are as much part of our studies as class room lessons. Observation and data-collection via field studies enable our students to reach across various concepts and explore their inter-relationships. Interaction between children and the world outside helps children return to their classrooms after imbibing various concepts and then apply them successfully to their classroom learning. Outdoor learning experiences also acquaint children with their environment and heritage. Our children regularly visit mines, farms, zoos, orchards, farmlands, shops, markets, community centers, public utility centres, archeological sites, religious places, historical sites, police stations, banks, orchards, wild life sanctuaries, hills, dams, lakes, rivers and many more places.

READING

At Pupil Tree Schools, reading is a way of life, scores of hand picked, colourful and illustrated books on various topics in the School Library encourage children to imbibe the habit of reading and make it a part of their daily life. We also use many imaginative and innovative ideas to strengthen the expression and usage of language even as we foster creativity in our children. Puppetry, Read aloud, Scrabble, Review of books, literary fests are just some of our activities. Of course, children also use the library for research, project work as well as for enacting plays.

THE ARTS

INTRODUCTION

The emphasis that we lay on refining the sensibilities of our children cannot be stressed enough. In fact, as you can see, our premises are designed to showcase the importance we place on art and culture. The Art Centre with its many studios forms the nucleus of Pupil Tree Schools. Classrooms are built around this centre which houses Children Experience Centres (CXC) for practice of the arts. Pupil Tree Schools transform into a virtual ‘Kalashetra’- (stage for various art forms) in the evenings.

PERFORMING ARTS

The performing arts are not only a part of our intense cultural legacy but also a means of enrichment of our personality and character. They refine both temperament and body language. Music, dance and drama acquaint children with both our past and present even as they imbibe different perspectives through these media. Children have ample chance to excel in these fields at Pupil Tree Schools; they are not optional but obligatory. However, we let our children explore and identify whatever field they want to adopt. We train children both in instrumental and vocal music, classical and popular dance forms besides dramatics.

FINE ARTS

Sustenance for the soul and nourishment for the mind! Children relish these activities as much as they do reading and story telling. We give them a wide range to choose from. Painting, stone sculpture making, pottery, crafts, gardening, puppet making, Science and Language Clubs are some of them.
